Along with the investigations of fires and explosions, The Monterey County Fire Investigators Association and the Monterey County Fire and Arson Task Force support the enforcement of fireworks regulations and laws within Monterey County. By California State law, State Fire Marshal certified "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed in the State of California in areas where local regulations allow the use. In Monterey County, "safe and sane" fireworks are only allowed in the cities of Seaside, Marina, Salinas, Soledad, Gonzales, and Greenfield. Fireworks of any type are banned in all other parts of the County including cities, unincorporated areas, special districts, State Parks and Beaches, and military installations. For questions concerning the use of fireworks in your own community, contact your local fire department. Additional information on the sale and use of fireworks in the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito can be found in the following documents: Fireworks Information 2009 and "Use of Fireworks" Notice 2009.
